REDIGER DES COMPTE-RENDUS : ARTICULATION DU COGNITIF ET DU LANGAGIER

Learning to produce written accounts of meetings and discussions, which form a very common text-type in numerous social institutions, is extremely demanding. This article presents an analysis of the main variants of the genre and of the linguistic and cognitive skills which the author of such a text calls on in order to, firstly, understand and remember the original discourse, take notes and reformulate and abridge information, whilst at the same time taking into account the strategic issues at stake in the situation. Topics examined include procedures for reducing the information load, such as generalisation and conceptualisation, transcoding, as well as ways for dealing with the constraints imposed by the need for coherence and by the situational conditions of discourse production. By defining the various kinds of skills and knowledge required for writing such reports competently, the article provides a useful framework for learning and teaching the genre.
