POUR UNE APPROCHE MICRO ET MACRO DU FRANÇAIS PARLE DANS LA FORMATION DES ENSEIGNANTS DE FLE

DEBAISIEUX, Jeanne-Marie

Despite the advances made in communicative methodology and the increasing availability of recorded materials, teachers of French as a foreign language are still very revicent about using authentic documents. This is largely because they regard spoken language as informal and or ungrammatical + generally inferior to the written form.

This paper argues that spoken language has its own specific grammar, different from but just as systematic as traditional sentence - level grammar. This is illustrated by a detailed analysis of the expression parce que, wich shows that while its use may seem in accurate or mistaken when judged by criteria drawn from the grammatical description of written sentences, it can be shown to be fully coherent if the contextual and situational characteristics of oral discourse are taken into account.
