L’ENTRAINEMENT A LA COMPREHENSION ECRITE DES ETUDIANTS ETRANGERS DE LA FACULTE DES SCIENCES

The ability for foreign students to read non-scientific material efficiently helps towards rapid social and cultural integration. This report describes the reading comprehension section of a French language course aimed at foreign students at the Nancy Science Faculty. The authors present exercises which cover morpho-syntactic, communicative and discursive features of connected written discourse. Other exercises are descibed which attempt to introduce the students to various reading strategies and techniques with which they are not familiar, even in their mother tongue.
