APPRENTISSAGE AUTO-DIRIGE : QUAND LES CHIFFRES PARLENT

This article is a survey of the functioning of the SAAS (semi-autonomous learning system) at the CRAPEL during the year 1980/1981. Detailled data was collected by the two helpers about the learners (their aims, their language-level and their assessment of the SAAS) and about the way in which they actually used the system (meetings with helpers, type of documents borrowed, conversations with native-speakers).

After a short description of the way in which the SAAS works, the data is analysed and discussed in detail, thus giving information about the behaviour of learners in an unfamiliar learning environment and also about the burden of such a system upon the institution.
