This paper describes a number of experiments and activities carried out during intensive courses of French as a Second Language. Their two-fold purpose was, firstly, to enhance the students’ cultural awareness, especially with regard to their new urban environment, and, secondly, to provide data on specific cultural features of learner/environment interaction.
